Oprah, who is filming her show from Sydney, as a guest of the Australian Government, told her audience the school would receive money for new laptops and to refurbish the library and music rooms.
Mr Albanese said the gift was a wonderful gesture for a school that supports a lot of students from underprivileged backgrounds.
“This generous gift sends a great message to the school community and people in the wider Canterbury area,” said Mr Albanese.
“It is also great to see that that Jay-Z visited the school and spent some time with some talented young rappers there.”
“I hope this inspires the students from Canterbury Boys High School on to bigger and better things next year.”
