Bruce Highway Upgrade: Funding For New Interchange At Roys Road And Bells Creek Road

I have agreed to provide $80.7 million in Federal funding to replace the existing Roys Road and Bells Creek Road intersections near Beerwah with a new interchange, the first stage in the targeted upgrade of the Bruce Highway between Caboolture and Caloundra.
The need for an interchange was identified in a Road Safety Audit conducted by Australian Road Research Board.  Over the last decade, this intersection has been the scene of ten fatalities leading to its closure to traffic wanting to cross the Highway.
Around 50,000 vehicles use this section of the Bruce Highway every day.
The multimillion dollar, fully-Federally funded project will extend Roys Road to the new interchange which will include a bridge across the Highway, and on and off ramps.
This project is the latest addition to the unprecedented capital works program which this Federal Labor Government has been rolling out along the entire length of the Bruce Highway, one which is currently putting more than 3,500 people to work both directly and indirectly.
Since coming to office in 2007, Federal Labor has committed more than $3.3 billion to maintaining and upgrading the Bruce Highway.  When compared to the former Howard government’s record of just $1.3 billion over 12 years, we’re investing twice as much in half the time.
