Funding For Community Playground In Augathella

The Rudd Labor Government will provide $30,000 towards the construction of a new playground in Augathella, as part of our plan to support local jobs while delivering lasting community benefits for the future.

Minister Anthony Albanese was in nearby Charleville today to open the refurbished Charleville Town Hall which received $100,000 from the Rudd Government.

“I am pleased to be able to provide further funding to the Murweh Shire Council to keep improving local community infrastructure.

“The Augathella playground project is expected to support three jobs during construction,” he said.

Construction works will include the preparation of foundations and the installation of playground equipment like a swing set, slide tower, play truck and spring rider.

Mr Albanese said that the Government would deliver this funding from the second round of our Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program.

“In just over a year, this Program has delivered $1 billion to build and renew community facilities across Australia, making it the largest single investment in local infrastructure in the nation’s history.

“Already more than 3,300 community construction projects have either been completed or are underway through the first round.

“The funding announced today will keep more people working locally, to support the economy while building local infrastructure for the future.

“Across the country, the Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program is funding local projects like sporting fields, swimming pools, libraries, community halls, water and energy saving facilities, as well as improving elderly and disabled access.

“I expect to announce approved projects in the remaining local government areas of western Queensland shortly,” Mr Albanese concluded.
