Coalition Short-changing Mid North Coast

Today I was pleased to inspect progress of the Pacific Highway duplication and speak to Coffs Harbour City Council officials about the ongoing infrastructure needs of the dynamic Mid North Coast region.
While the Pacific Highway work has made a real difference to motorists, it is clear that after more than four years in office, the Turnbull Government has failed to plan for the next wave of infrastructure investment on the Mid North Coast.
The Nationals’ Member for Cowper, Luke Hartsuyker, has taken the region for granted, frequently promising projects like a Coffs Harbour Bypass despite failing to secure a dollar of new investment.
By contrast, the former Federal Labor Government invested $7.9 billion on the Pacific Highway – six times the amount the former Howard Government invested over 12 years.
We delivered funding for Pacific Highway projects including the Kempsey Bypass, Frederickton to Eungai, Sapphire to Woolgoolga, Kundabung to Kempsey, Nambucca Heads to Urunga and Warrell Creek to Nambucca Heads.
The former Labor Government also delivered important community infrastructure for Cowper, including lighting for the BCU International Stadium and the Brelsford Park playground.
The Mid North Coast needs a Member of Parliament who will stand up for the region and the Labor candidate for Cowper, Andrew Woodward, will make an outstanding representative.
