Opening Of Ella Centre In Haberfield

Federal Member for Grayndler Anthony Albanese will today open the refurbished Ella Centre building in Haberfield.

The Centre provides important respite services for people with disabilities, the elderly, their families and carers in the Inner West.

It was established in 1974 in a disused Methodist Church and has provided care and support for more than 30 years.

The $1 million refurbishment includes the installation of a commercial kitchen, slip resistant flooring, a lift for wheelchair access to the second floor and air conditioning throughout the building.

"The contribution of organisations such as the Ella Centre to the local area is immeasurable," said Mr Albanese.

"The Centre offers a range of great services for people with disabilities as well as providing respite to their carers who play such an important role in our community."

"I am please to be invited to open the building and wish the Ella Centre all the best for the future."

The National Roads and Motorists' Association (NRMA) will also be presenting a $5000 cheque to the Centre towards the redevelopment of its outdoor learning area.

Mr Albanese commended the NRMA for its generosity through its community grants program.
