What is the Stronger Communities Programme? 

The Grayndler Stronger Communities Programme offers grants of between $2,500 and $20,000 to community organisations and local governments for small capital projects that improve community participation and contribute to the vibrancy of the Inner West.

To be eligible for a SCP grant, applicants are required to match SCP grants in cash or in-kind on at least a dollar for dollar basis.

Up to $150,000 will be allocated to projects within Grayndler on the advice of a community consultation committee who will review all applications. Successful applications are then submitted to the Government for review and final sign off.

What are some examples of grants that have been successful?

Examples of successful applications in previous rounds of the SCP in Grayndler include:

Plumtree Children’s Service in Marrickville

Petersham Bowling Club

Hurlstone Park Wanderers

  •  $20,000 to Petersham Bowling Club for the refurbishment of its outdoor area.
  • $20,000 to Plumtree Children’s Service in Marrickville  for a renovation of their bathroom.
  • $7,500 to the Hurlstone Park Wanderers to go towards an upgrade of the soccer equipment at Beaman Park.
  • $9,000 to the Addison Road Community Centre to build a path from the car park to ensure the Centre is accessible for people with a disability.

Who is eligible? 

At a minimum, you must:

  • have an Australian Business Number (ABN) and
  • be one of the following entities:
    • a local government agency or body
    • a not for profit organisation that is a legal entity
    • a trustee on behalf of a property trust with responsibility for a community asset.

To be eligible for funding a project must:

  • be for capital purchases/activities; and
  • contribute to an improvement in local community participation and cohesion and contribute to the vibrancy and viability of the community;
  • scheduled for completion by 30 June 2018.
