Upgrade To Middlemount Sports Precinct

Middlemount residents will reap the benefits of the upgrade to the Middlemount Sports Precinct, which is being partly funded through Round Three of the Federal Labor Government’s Regional Development Australia Fund.

Member for Capricornia, Kirsten Livermore said the Isaac Regional Council would receive $234,500 for the establishment of an eight rink synthetic bowls green with lighting at the new Middlemount Sports Precinct.
“This upgrade will form part of a regionally recognised sport and recreation hub servicing the needs of both the Middlemount and Isaac communities,” Ms Livermore said.
“Establishing the bowls green will provide valuable social and competitive sporting opportunities for the community.
“This is just another way that the Federal Government is supporting people in Capricornia.”
Minister for Regional Development and Local Government, Anthony Albanese, said this project would deliver employment benefits to the region, creating 6 jobs during construction and sustaining a further 4 after its completion.
“This project delivers local jobs now and a new community asset for Middlemount into the future,” he said.
Minister Albanese said 79 projects across Australia were receiving funding under the latest round of funding.
“The latest round of regional funding continues our long-term investment in local communities including in health and hospitals, higher education, the NBN and infrastructure,” he said.
Ms Livermore said the project was expected to be completed by late 2015.
