Australian Airlines Recognised For Being World's Best

Today I congratulate Virgin Australia which has been recognised as “Best Airline” and “Best Staff Service” in the Australia Pacific region at the 2012 Skytrax World Airline Awards.
The World Airline Awards rates over 200 airlines based on the experience of more than 18 million airline passengers.
This is a great achievement for Virgin Australia and is testament to the success of the airline’s new product and service initiatives across the airport and onboard environment.
Virgin Australia’s award follows the rating of Regional Express (Rex) as the top performing Australian airline by the authoritative Aviation Week and Space Technology (AWST) magazine for 2012.
Rex can be proud of this accolade which reflects and recognises the airline’s long term financial strength and stability.
No wonder Rex Chairman, Lim Jim Hai, said in August last year:

“I am actually more optimistic and confident of the outlook and potential of the Rex Group than I have ever been for the past nine years.”

These awards confirm Australian airlines continue to go from strength to strength.
The long term outlook for aviation is extremely positive and I’m delighted that Australia’s airlines can lay claim to being some of the best in the world.
