Funding For Belmont Community Infrastructure

The Rudd Labor Government will provide $67,000 for a ready-to-go community infrastructure project in the City of Belmont as part of our plan to support jobs in the local economy while delivering lasting benefits to communities.

Minister for Infrastructure and Local Government Anthony Albanese said that the new funding would go towards the refurbishment of the Selby Park community facility at Redcliffe, including construction of a verandah and installation of windows, energy efficient lighting and air conditioning.

"Importantly, this project is expected to support up to 11 jobs during construction.

"We will deliver this funding to the City of Belmont from the second round of our Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program (RLCIP).

"In just over a year, this Program has delivered $1 billion to build and renew community facilities across Australia, making it the largest single investment in local infrastructure in the nation's history.

"Already more than 3,300 community construction projects have either been completed or are underway through the first round. Some of these projects had been on the drawing board for decades.

"The Selby Park community facility refurbishment was put forward by the local council as a community priority. By letting local communities decide, the Rudd Government is helping turn the community's vision into a reality.

"Across the country the RLCIP is funding new and upgraded sporting fields, swimming pools, libraries, community halls, water and energy saving facilities, elderly and disabled access and other local projects."
