The Rudd Labor Government will provide $534,000 for four ready-to-go community infrastructure projects in Logan Shire in Queensland as part of our plan to support local jobs while building infrastructure for the future.

Minister for Infrastructure and Local Government Anthony Albanese said that the funding would go towards projects such as upgrades to the Ewing Park Waterway and the heritage precinct at Logan Village.

"Importantly, these four projects are expected to support up to 41 local jobs during construction.

"We will deliver this funding to the Logan Shire Council from the second round of our Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program (RLCIP) – a key part of our Economic Stimulus Plan.

"In just over a year, the RLCIP has delivered more than $1 billion to build and renew community facilities right across Australia, making it the largest single investment in local infrastructure in the nation’s history.

"Already more than 3,300 community construction projects have either been completed or are underway through the first round.

"All of these projects were put forward by local councils as local community priorities.

"By letting local communities decide, the Rudd Government is helping turn the community’s vision into a reality," Mr Albanese concluded.
