Howard Isolated And Wrong On Climate Change

John Howard is increasingly isolated over climate change because he is wrong.

John Howard has been told about the mounting scientific evidence that climate change is making weather more extreme and cutting rainfall.

John Howard has been told climate change is a serious threat to Australia’s economy and environment, but he is ignoring the inconvenient truth.

The Howard Government has independent reports and expert advice from the CSIRO stating that, if strong action is not taken, temperatures and sea levels will rise to dangerous levels.

Yet John Howard says he is “sceptical” about “gloomy” climate change predictions.

Al Gore’s documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, outlines the scientific consensus that climate change has led to a significant increase in both the duration and intensity of cyclones and hurricanes, and a drop in rainfall in agricultural areas.

Research published this week in the United States Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences confirms that human activities have warmed the oceans and thus helped create stronger cyclones and hurricanes. This has meant the number of category 4 and 5 cyclones and hurricanes have doubled over the last 30 years

As the London Sun newspaper’s editorial said yesterday “Too many of us have spent too long in denial over the threat from global warming. The evidence is now irresistible.”

The depth of the Government’s denial over climate change was proven today when its 2nd speaker in debate denied it was happening at all.
