Qantas Engineers

Today’s announcement of an agreement between Qantas and its engineers is welcome news for the travelling public.
The Government has consistently stated the importance of both sides recognising that they had a mutual interest in resolving the dispute.
This outcome is a result of the Government’s decisive actions at the time of the Qantas grounding to have the matter dealt with by Fair Work Australia.
It also reflects the flexibility of the provisions in the Fair Work Act that allow the parties to engage in meaningful conciliation.
The Government is hopeful that transport workers and pilots can now come to an agreement with Qantas.
