Labor Welcomes New Australian War Memorial Director
Labor welcomes the appointment of Matthew Anderson PSM as the next Director of the Australian War Memorial, as announced today.
As a senior diplomat, and a former Army officer and veteran with a strong passion for military history, Mr Anderson brings a range of relevant skills and experience to the role.
Labor congratulates Mr Anderson on his appointment and looks forward to working with him, and continuing the broad bipartisan approach to this important national institution.
Labor acknowledges and thanks outgoing Director, Dr Brendan Nelson AO, who was appointed by the former Labor government in 2012.
He has been an outstanding leader of the Australian War Memorial with a strong commitment to telling the stories of Australia’s more recent military conflicts and operations, and a new generation of service men and women.
We thank Dr Nelson for his service and wish him all the best for the future.
