$420,000 To Fix Black Spot In Haberfield

Member for Grayndler Anthony Albanese today announced the Gillard Labor Government will provide $420,000 to fix a dangerous black spot in Haberfield.
A concrete centre median and edge lines will be installed on the City West Link in Haberfield at the entrance to the Haberfield Rowing Club.
The project was recommended by a panel of independent road safety experts and will be delivered during the course of the coming financial year (2012/13).
Mr Albanese said since being elected in 2007, the Federal Labor Government has allocated $770,000 to fix five black spots across the Grayndler electorate.
“This investment is helping to make our local roads even safer for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians, with four of these projects already completed,” said Mr Albanese.
“The good thing about our Black Spot program is that anyone can suggest an intersection or section of road they believe should be considered for a safety upgrade.
“Nomination forms are available from my office.  Alternatively, they can be downloaded from: www.nationbuildingprogram.gov.au.”
Nationally, we’ve doubled funding for the Black Spot program to half a billion dollars – more than honouring our election commitments.  This record investment is already helping to make our local roads even safer for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.
An independent evaluation of the program found it prevented at least 32 fatalities and more than 1,500 serious injuries in its first three years, underscoring its effectiveness at reducing fatal car accidents.
