Air Traffic Controllers’ certified agreement
The Hon Anthony Albanese MP

The resounding vote by air traffic controllers in support of a new certified agreement is an important step forward for aviation in Australia.
I congratulate Airservices and Civil Air on the constructive outcome, which is good news for the travelling public and the aviation industry.
This outcome is critical for the stability of the aviation sector at a time when it is confronting the challenges arising from the global economic recession.
Air traffic controllers play a vital role in the safety and efficiency of aviation.
The Government’s approach has been to promote constructive dialogue and positive outcomes rather than engaging in negative commentary which characterised the approach of the Federal Opposition and some others.
The agreement will help attract dedicated people to an industry which has suffered skills shortages due to the neglect of the previous government.
