Albanese To Meet With Volunteers
As part of Anti Poverty Week, tomorrow Friday 21 October 2005, Anthony Albanese MP, Federal Member for Grayndler, will be presenting Marrickville residents Dr Jeannie Ellis and Ms Debbie Kearns with Certificates of Appreciation for their work as volunteers overseas.
Mr Albanese said, “Volunteers make an invaluable contribution to our local, national and international communities by creating real opportunities for people in disadvantaged places. In this way, they make an important contribution to the fight against poverty and its long term consequences.”
“I welcome this opportunity to recognise these members of our local community who have generously given their time and skills to help people in need overseas.”
“Their experiences provide invaluable insight to us all about the positive impact of volunteering overseas.”
Mr Albanese will be presenting certificates of appreciation to Dr Ellis and Ms Kearns at 334a Marrickville Road Marrickville at 9.30am. Another 3 volunteers from Marrickville and Ashfield have also been recognised with certificates.
