This Monday, 17 October 2005, Federal Member for Grayndler Anthony Albanese MP will be presenting commemorative medallions to veterans, widows and widowers of World War II veterans in remembrance of the 60th anniversary of Victory in the Pacific and the end of World War II.

“This is an important occasion to recognise the many men and women who served, or whose loved ones served, in this conflict, and in doing so, ensured the freedom we enjoy 60 years on,” said Mr Albanese.

“Their service and sacrifice continues to be remembered long after the conflict has ended, and we are indebted to them,” he continued.

“The commemorative medallions which I will be presenting are a symbol of our nation’s gratitude, and it is an honour to be able to present them to these brave men and women in my electorate,” Mr Albanese concluded.

The presentation ceremony will take place at Herb Greedy Hall, 79 Petersham Road Marrickville from 2.30-3.30pm on Monday 17 October.

Approximately 20 medallion recipients are expected to attend, and a further 30 will be receiving their medallions by post.
