Ms Gillian Brown has been appointed to the Board of the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC), the wholly government owned company that manages the nation’s interstate rail network.
Infrastructure and Transport Minister Anthony Albanese and Finance Minister Lindsay Tanner today announced Ms Brown’s appointment as a director for a three year term ending in June 2013.
“Ms Brown brings with her a wealth of experience, including some twenty-five years as a lawyer specialising in the financing of major infrastructure projects such as ports, power stations and mines,” said Mr Tanner.
“We are confident that Ms Brown has the expertise and energy to assist in the modernisation and revitalisation of the nation’s freight rail network.”
The Gillard Labor Government has also reappointed Mr Lucio Di Bartolomeo as a director for another three year term.
“Mr Di Bartolomeo has served on the Board since 2007 and his reappointment is recognition of his ability to bring direction and purpose to the organisation,” said Mr Albanese.
“The Board of ARTC has provided strong leadership, particularly during the past 18 months as the organisation moved quickly to put funding from our Economic Stimulus Plan to work creating jobs and modernising the nation’s vital rail infrastructure.
“We congratulate the new and continuing board members, and have every faith they will further strengthen the ARTC’s management team and delivery on the ground.”
