Just got this pic from Celia, Taylor and Luke who are now on their way home from San Francisco along with the other stranded Aussies. It shouldn’t have taken a call from me to get them on a plane, but if that’s what it takes, I’ll make more. The Australian Government has a responsibility to our citizens. Scott Morrison promised to bring stranded Australians home by Christmas. He must keep his promise.

This is a long one – but it matters. Today I spoke to Luke. He's one of 30 Australians stranded in San Francisco. A mechanical error meant their flight home was cancelled. They were told that they would have to wait until January 20 for a replacement flight – because the Australian Government wouldn't give them permission to come home sooner. There's another plane leaving San Francisco for Sydney in a few hours. There are plenty of seats. And these stranded Australians should be on it. After my conversation with Luke, I picked up the phone and called the Federal Minister for Transport. I told him that he should fix this today. Minutes later, we received confirmation from the stranded Australians that they had been placed on tonight's flight. They're coming home. This is great news for these Australians. But it shouldn't have taken the intervention of Labor MPs to make it right. The Government is dropping the ball. They've abandoned 30,000 other Australians stranded overseas. They've had eight months to get this right, and Australians are suffering the consequences. We need to bring them home.

More than 30,000 Australians stranded overseas – and their families back home – have been failed by Scott Morrison. Today, @julie.owens.mp and I met with Vik. His wife Sudha has been stuck in India since March with no way to get home to Australia. In September, Scott Morrison promised he would bring stranded Australians like Sudha home. But since he made that announcement, the number of Australians stranded overseas has gone up, not down. This Government is all photo op, no follow up – and it's families that are paying the price.

Our recovery needs to give every worker every chan

Our recovery needs to give every worker every chance to succeed. We can't leave anyone behind. That's what Labor believes. And we'll actually follow through on our promises – by guaranteeing jobs for apprentices, trainees and cadets on federally-funded infrastructure projects.

If we keep making excuses for violence against wom

If we keep making excuses for violence against women, we'll never end violence against women. On this International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and every day, we say loudly and clearly: Let's end this culture of excuses. Let's stop blaming women. Let's change attitudes – and save lives.

Sat down for a (socially distanced) meeting with @danielandrewsmp on the first day the borders opened up to Victoria.

This has been one hell of a year, especially for Victorians.

But they've pulled through, and it's great that Christmas will see families reunited.

This year we've had a major health challenge dealing with the coronavirus.

But now we also have a massive economic challenge ahead of us.

We need bold vision, strong leadership, and a lot of building if we're to emerge on the other side of this pandemic.

The Victorian Labor Government's $5.3 billion investment in social housing is a great start. It will mean tens of thousands of jobs.

But we need to see action at a federal level.

And we need a Labor Government to get it done.

There are plenty of social housing units that need

There are plenty of social housing units that need repair, and plenty that need building.

I went to Brunswick this morning with @peterkhalilmp to talk with residents about their needs.

Peter and I both grew up in social housing. I know first hand the power of having a safe place to call home.

That's something every Australian deserves.

Dan Andrews has pledged $5.3 billion, but we've seen nothing from the Morrison Government.

Labor will build more social housing because it's good for jobs, and because it's good for people.
