Celebrating Excellence In Grayndler


This Wednesday 18th August 2004, Anthony Albanese MP will be presenting the Australian Students Prize to winners from the Grayndler electorate. There were four students who excelled in their HSC in 2003 who will be receiving the prize.


Miss Miranda Cousten studied her HSC at St George Girls High School. Miranda is now studying Commerce at the University of New South Wales.


Mr Yanke Zhang studied his HSC at Fort Street High School. Yanke is now studying a double degree in Commerce and Law at The University of Sydney.


The other two recipients, Mr Terence Khoo (Ashfield Boys High School) and Miss Onagh Bishop (Newtown High School of Performing Arts) will not be attending because of tertiary study commitments interstate.


“These four outstanding higher achieving students should be congratulated to the highest degree. It is important that young people from all socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds are given the opportunity to succeed in whichever areas they choose. It is up to the community around them to ensure that they are given the opportunity excel”, Mr Albanese said.


“I commend the students for all the hard work they put into their HSC and I wish them the very best in what will no doubt be a very prosperous and exciting future”, Mr Albanese concluded.
