Climate Change Forum A Great Success

Anthony Albanese MP, Federal Member for Grayndler, has called last night’s Forum on Climate Change, held at the Cyprus Club, Stanmore, a great success.

“More than 200 people came to the forum, held not even a week after tens of thousands turned out for the Walk Against Warming.”

“We are seeing real momentum building on this issue, reflecting the urgent need for the Howard Government to take strong action to avoid dangerous climate change.”

“I was pleased to launch Labor’s new Climate Change Leaflet at the forum. The leaflet, which will be delivered to every household in Grayndler, outlines 10 things people can do to make a difference, and cut their energy bills by over 30%.”

“The inconvenient truth for the Howard Government is that people are very concerned about the state of our environment. What’s more, they are becoming frustrated with the Government’s failure to address the greatest challenge we face.”

“The facts are in – climate change is real and Australia needs to take serious steps to join the global effort to combat it.”

Mr Albanese will be attending the United Nations climate change summit in Nairobi this week as part of the Australian delegation.

“Australia needs to ratify the Kyoto Protocol and get back in step with the rest of the world.”

Last night’s forum was addressed by Professor Frank Muller of the Institute of Environmental Studies, University of New South Wales, and by Anthony Albanese.
