Marrickville residents wishing to contribute to the Queensland flood relief will be able to do so at Steel Park in Marrickville on 30 January.
Local Labor Members Anthony Albanese (Grayndler), Carmel Tebbutt (Marrickville) and Linda Burney (Canterbury) are organising a sausage sizzle from 12pm to 2pm.
The event will cost $5 a head which will include a sausage on a roll and a drink as well as a donation to the Flood Relief Appeal.
"As each day passes, the magnitude of the disaster becomes more evident," Mr Albanese said.
"This barbecue will be a great opportunity for the people of Marrickville to lend a hand."
“I’m sure I speak on behalf of our community when I say our hearts go out to people in Queensland who have been affected by the floods,” Ms Tebbutt said.
“I know many local residents are looking for ways to help – this is another way the community can contribute to the relief effort,” Ms Burney said.
Steel Park is on Illawarra Road next to the Cooks River. It is home to the Waterplay Park which opened recently and has become a very popular local attraction.
