Anthony Albanese MP, Federal Member for Grayndler, has organised a public forum on Your Rights At Work – The Future of Industrial Relations, to be held on Wednesday 12 April 2006 at Leichhardt Town Hall.
Mr Albanese said, “Australia has always been the country of the ‘fair go’, yet John Howard’s unfair changes to our Industrial Relations System will undermine Australian workers and their families. These changes are a real threat to the Australian way of life.”
“Today, Monday 27 March, we see the Howard Government’s Industrial Relations changes come into full effect. As a result of these changes, the rights and conditions that Australians have fought so hard to win and protect - overtime, penalty rates, holiday pay, redundancy pay, leave entitlements will be destroyed. There will be no such thing as job security.”
“Never before has there been such an attack on our rights at work, and that’s why it’s so important to hold this community forum on Industrial Relations.”
Details of the forum are as follows - also see flyer [pdf]
Date: Wednesday 12 April, 7-30pm to 9-00pm
Venue: Leichhardt Town Hall
Speakers:
Mr Albanese said, “People need to be informed about the effects these changes will have, not only on their own lives but also on their children’s.”
“I encourage as many people as possible to attend this 8th forum in the series of Grayndler Community Forums,” said Mr Albanese.
