Inner West Families To Be Hit Hard With Gp Tax

Families in Grayndler will be among the top 20 electorates hardest hit by Abbott’s new GP tax in Australia.

New Medicare analysis reveals Grayndler will pay more than $5.5 million in tax each year, just to see the local doctor.
It is a shameful indictment of the Abbott Government that they would consider charging Australians who can least afford it to see the doctor.
What’s more is that Tony Abbott promised Australians before the election he would not touch Medicare.
People in NSW could pay more than $250 million each year for primary and in many cases preventative health care.
And that’s if we believe the new tax won’t be lifted higher than the $6 proposed.
Once the principle of universal access to Medicare is changed these charges would only go higher in the future.
People already pay for Medicare through their taxes where the more you earn, the more you pay.
Under the Coalition’s plan the poorest families will be charged the same as the wealthiest families.
Mr Abbott’s string of broken promises means Australians can’t afford to trust the Liberal Party.
In contrast, Labor believes it is a great tradition of Medicare that Australians can receive the healthcare they need not the healthcare they can afford.
This new tax is a direct attack on universal healthcare in Australia, and Labor will fight any attempt by the Abbott Government to dismantle this.
