Anthony’s role as Leader of the House

Anthony Albanese has been Leader of the House of Representatives since the election of the Labor Government in November 2007. As Leader, he manages government business such as the order in which issues are dealt with, time allotted for debate, tactics and negotiating with his counterpart (the manager of Opposition Business) about the order in which bills are debated. He must also be aware of proceedings in the Senate, in order to anticipate, for example, whether a bill may be returned to the House with amendments.
