RADIO INTERVIEW

2GB BEN FORDHAM LIVE

MONDAY, 6 JULY 2020

SUBJECTS: Eden-Monaro by-election.

BEN FORDHAM, HOST: Anthony Albanese, good morning.

ANTHONY ALBANESE, LEADER OF THE AUSTRALIAN LABOR PARTY: G'day Ben. How are you?

FORDHAM: I'm glad to know that you're listening, Albo.

ALBANESE: I am mate. And I just wanted to give a shout out to all those in Eden-Monaro who've helped send Kristy McBain to Canberra. She's going to be a real asset and you'll be talking about her for many years to come.

FORDHAM: You just slid across the line Albo. There was that comment from Joel Fitzgibbon where he said it was an ugly win.

ALBANESE: Mate you have the odd punt, I'm sure. And the bookies pay out whether you win by a nose or the length of the strait. And the fact is Kristy will be sworn in, in August. And it was always going to be a tough fight. We're living in strange times, COVID-19, and the loss of a very popular sitting member in Mike Kelly. And Eden-Monaro has always gone with the Government. So, this is a good sign for her.

FORDHAM: As you say a win's a win. Nice to talk to you, we'll talk soon.

ALBANESE: Good on you Ben.
