with Richard Marles MP & Labor Candidate for Chisholm Carina Garland
Carina Garland has been officially endorsed as Labor’s candidate for Chisholm at the next federal election.
Communities across Chisholm have been left behind after eight long years under the Liberal Government.
Carina has dedicated her professional life advocating to make the working lives of Victorians better, safer, and more secure.
As the Assistant Secretary at Trades Hall she has seen firsthand the impact that flat wages and insecure work has on families as well as on the local economy and has led the fight to secure better jobs for our community.
Carina will work hard every day for a better future for families in Chisholm by fighting for local jobs, protecting Medicare and more investment in renewables.
“After a difficult 18 months with COVID and a recession, people in Chisholm feel like they’ve been forgotten by the Morrison Government.
Small business owners feel like they’ve been forgotten.
Staff at Deakin and Monash Uni feel like they’ve been forgotten.
Casual workers feel like they’ve been forgotten.
Our nurses at Box Hill hospital feel like they’ve been forgotten.
I’m running as Labor’s candidate for Chisholm because I want to represent these forgotten communities across Chisholm.
Right now, people want solutions, not political blame-games.
My number one priority is local jobs – secure jobs with fair pay and conditions.
I’ll stand up for Medicare and I’ll always fight for more affordable access to GPs and specialists.
I’ll fight for more affordable childcare – so parents don’t have to choose between sending their kids to childcare or picking up an extra day of work.
I’ll stand up for more investment in renewables to create new jobs and industries.
Chisholm deserves better than another 3 years of neglect under the Liberals.”
I’m delighted that Carina Garland will stand up for Chisholm as Labor’s candidate for the next federal election.
Scott Morrison and his Government have bungled the COVID vaccine rollout and failed to fix our broken quarantine system.
They have no plan to build a stronger Australia after the pandemic.
Carina is a local champion who understands Chisholm and its needs.
I look forward to campaigning with Carina on the ground to advance Labor’s positive plans for more jobs, greater job security, cheaper power and a revival of Australian manufacturing.
“Carina Garland is a local who genuinely cares about her community and wants a better future for families across Chisholm.
She grew up in the suburbs, she went to uni here, she understands what makes this part of Melbourne tick.
I look forward to working with Carina to deliver for families in Melbourne’s Eastern suburbs and I’m proud to announce she will be Labor’s candidate for the seat for Chisholm.
Locals here in Chisholm want to see Australia’s vaccination rollout get back on track, they want to see purpose-built quarantine and a plan to manufacture mRNA vaccines here at home.
Local businesses in Box Hill need confidence to plan ahead, they need to know that the worst of this pandemic is behind us. But unfortunately they’re not getting that.
