This Sunday, local community members will gather at the Community BBQ and Kevin07 Bike Ride by the Cooks River.
The Kevin07 Bike Ride will proceed along the bike path beside the Cooks River, and is a family friendly event.
Significant improvement has been made to the Cooks River in recent years, but there has been no Commonwealth support.
Labor is committed to improvements in our local environment to improve the quality of life for residents around the river.
Details of the BBQ and Kevin 07 Bike Ride are as follows:
Date: Sunday, 18 November 2007
Time: From 12.30pm
Location: Steel Park, Illawarra Rd Marrickville
The inner west is a vibrant area which celebrates its diversity. The BBQ and Bike Ride is an opportunity for community members to come together in advance of the federal election on 24 November, when voters will have the opportunity to elect a Labor Government that is committed to providing leadership in promoting the Australian values of a fair go, respect, and tolerance in our community.
The bike ride will be seen off by Fr Dave Smith, and participants will make a voluntary contribution to the Youth Centre at Holy Trinity, Dulwich Hill.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which our offices stand and we pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. We acknowledge the sorrow of the Stolen Generations and the impacts of colonisation on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We also recognise the resilience, strength and pride of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
