Dubbo’s $1.1 Million Victoria Park Redevelopment Open

Anthony Albanese, Minister for Regional Development and Local Government, today officially opened the redevelopment of Victoria Park in Dubbo, which is worth nearly $1.1 million.

Minister Albanese said that the Rudd Labor Government had provided $660,000 towards the redevelopment of the park.

“I am pleased to be here with Cr Allan Smith, Mayor of Dubbo City Council, to mark the completion of this major community project.

“It will provide high quality sporting and recreational facilities for young people and their families in Dubbo,” he said.

The redevelopment of Victoria Park had two components:

  • A sports action precinct with a ‘rage cage’, which is a compact multi-purpose sporting facility for up to 12 different outdoor sports; a skate park with a ‘full pipe’; a stage/amphitheatre and associated infrastructure; and

  • An equal access playground with play equipment for children, including those with disabilities. The playground includes a musical area, climbing structures, sandpit, equal access swing, slippery dip, garden areas, shade and seating.

“This project demonstrates the Rudd Government’s commitment to supporting jobs in communities today while delivering the modern infrastructure local families need.

“We have provided this funding through our more than $1 billion Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program.

“This record funding has already supported more than 3,300 community infrastructure projects across Australia, creating jobs local economies,” he said.

Minister Albanese said that the next round of funding under the Program was now open, with $220 million available for local councils across Australia.

“Every local government area has received funding under the Program, including more than $1.5 million so far allocated to Dubbo City Council.

“I congratulate the Dubbo City Council for delivering local infrastructure projects that make a practical difference to the community,” Mr Albanese concluded.
