F5 Widening: Two Of Three Stages Now Complete

South-west Sydney motorists are now experiencing faster travel times and less traffic congestion following the completion of work on the full duplication of the F5 between Brooks and Raby roads.

Completion of this six kilometre section represents a major milestone in the $138 million F5 Widening Project, complementing the section between the M7 Interchange and Brooks Road which has already been widened to four lanes.

Work on the remaining three kilometres between Raby and Narellan roads is expected to be completed by the end of 2011.

Already one of Sydney busiest roads used by more than 80,000 vehicles daily, the work we're undertaking will help make sure the F5 is able to accommodate the expected growth in traffic over the coming decades.

The widening of the F5 is a jointly funded project, with the Gillard Labor Government contributing $110.4 million and the Keneally Labor Government a further $27.7 million.

Indeed we're working together to build the infrastructure Sydney needs, not just for the next three years but for the next three decades. In addition to our investment in the city's road network, we're spending almost $3 billion to improve its rail infrastructure by laying new lines to untangle passenger services from freight trains and building the Parramatta to Epping Rail Link.

Our vision is a sustainable and vibrant Sydney underpinned by modern, well planned transport infrastructure - a city which continues to be a great place to live, work and raise a family.
