Opening Petersham RSL Club's New Premises

I'm very proud to have been here today to open the Petersham RSL as the 31st Prime Minister of Australia.

The Petersham RSL is a cultural institution in the Inner West. I am honoured to have been invited by CEO Danny Fitzgerald and President Barry Cotter to open its new premises. The upgrade will breathe new life into the Club as we emerge from COVID, ensuring it will continue to be a venue where Inner West citizens of all backgrounds can come together.

I’m delighted that my first official plaque as Prime Minister will not just be in the Inner West, but at the Petersham RSL. I have been honoured to deliver the Anzac Day Address at the Petersham RSL Dawn Service many times in years past. On Election Night in 2019, Petersham RSL was host to myself and my campaign, which is where my journey to the Prime Ministership kicked off.

RSLs can play a broad role in our community. The Petersham RSL did important work in getting people vaccinated for COVID, partaking in campaigns to boost immunisation rates. I thank the board members for their leadership here.

This new facility will be so important because it provides a sustainable model. Going forward, Petersham RSL will be known as a revitalized, vibrant, dynamic club that will serve the entire community.

I'm very proud to have been here today to open the Petersham RSL as the 31st Prime Minister of Australia. I look forward to coming back here many times in the future.
