Steve Hutchins, Senator for New South Wales, joined the Tullibigeal community today to celebrate the opening of their brand new Town Hall.
Anthony Albanese, Minister for Infrastructure and Local Government, said the Rudd Labor Government provided $576,000 to the Lachlan Shire Council for the project, from our $1 billion Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program (RLCIP).
“Importantly, 17 jobs were supported during construction of the project, providing a boost to the local economy.
“The RLCIP is a key part of the Rudd Labor Government’s Economic Stimulus Plan, and is delivering local jobs in communities across Australia by building infrastructure for the long term,” Mr Albanese said.
Senator Hutchins said the project involved the construction of a new multi-use community hall suitable for a large range of functions by all groups within the local community and surrounding areas.
“The new Tullibigeal Town Hall includes a range of modern facilities including kitchen facilities and air-conditioning,” Senator Hutchins said.
“It will ensure the continued provision of community-based services and provide a great meeting place for local groups and events.”
Mr Albanese said that in partnership with every council in the country the Rudd Labor Government is delivering 5,000 small and larger scale building projects like these, including new and refurbished public libraries, sporting facilities, parks and playgrounds, and child care centres.
“In fact, we are making the single largest federal investment in community infrastructure through the RLCIP,” Mr Albanese said.
Mr Albanese and Senator Hutchins congratulated the Lachlan Shire Council and the local community for helping deliver this project, and helping to build a stronger region for the future.
