Membership Of The Sydney Airport Community Forum (Sacf)
Transport Minister Anthony Albanese has today appointed Vic Smith chair of the re-constituted Sydney Airport Community Forum (SACF), and invited local mayors, members of parliament as well as industry and community representatives to join and participate in its regular deliberations.
Announcing all 25 members of SACF, Mr Albanese said he had also invited representatives from Sydney Airport Corporation to provide a full briefing to SACF on the proposed safety upgrade to its east-west runway.
“The first meeting of SACF on Friday, 15 February will be a chance for local and community representatives to question the Corporation about the effects of the temporary runway closure,” said Mr Albanese.
“Sydney Airport is vital to the Australian economy and is responsible for many thousands of jobs, not just in Sydney but around Australia.
“But the Airport has a responsibility to be mindful of the impact its operations can and do have on those living and working around it.”
The Sydney Airport Community Forum will:
- Advise the Commonwealth Transport Minister on noise abatement and related environmental issues;
- Facilitate consultation with and information flows to the community regarding the airport’s operations; and
- Provide a direct channel for the community to engage with Sydney Airport Corporation and AirServices Australia on the Airport’s noise sharing plan.
