The new multi purpose hall at St Joan of Arc Primary School in Haberfield was opened today by Labor Member for Grayndler Anthony Albanese.
The school received two grants from the Building the Education Revolution (BER): $2,285,000 to build the new hall and $156,996 to install wireless broadband, purchase new information communication technology equipment and refurbish a sporting ground.
"This hall will be used for assemblies, award nights and concerts. In many ways, it will be the heart of the school," said Mr Albanese.
"It is an investment in local infrastructure that will benefit the school and the local community for many years to come."
The project is part of the Gillard Labor Government’s $42 billion plan to support jobs, stimulate local economies and invest in important infrastructure for the long-term.
"I am told that around 200 different people worked on this project," said Mr Albanese.
"That is 200 people whose families benefited from Labor's response to the global financial crisis.
“I congratulate everyone who has contributed to this fantastic project."
