Grayndler
Tuesday, 4th May 2010
Minister for Infrastructure and Federal Member for Grayndler, Anthony Albanese, today attended the official opening of the new multipurpose hall and refurbished playground at Christian Brothers’ High School Lewisham, built as part of the Federal Government’s Building the Education Revolution (BER).
Christian Brothers’ High School received a total of $2.2 million under the National School Pride and Primary Schools for the 21st Century elements of the BER.
The BER is a key element of the Rudd Government’s $42 billion Nation Building – Economic Stimulus Plan to support jobs, stimulate local economies and invest in important infrastructure for the long-term.
“It is great to be here today to celebrate the opening of this new multipurpose hall and refurbished playground and to witness first hand, the impact this has had on this school and the broader community,” said Mr Albanese.
“I am also pleased to see that this particular project has employed many contractors from the building and construction industry. This is the essence of the Economic Stimulus Plan, supporting jobs while providing infrastructure for future generations.”
