The Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Anthony Albanese, together with the NSW Roads Minister Duncan Gay, today announced the new Raby Road on-ramp to the F5 Freeway is complete and open to traffic.
Mr Albanese said the Raby Road on-ramp would improve travel times and safety for motorists entering the F5 Freeway from the west and from Campbelltown Road.
“Before this ramp was completed there was no access onto the F5 northbound from Raby Road,” Mr Albanese said.
“These changes are significant milestones on the F5 widening project and will reduce congestion and improve road safety.
“This work is the result of a $138 million partnership with the NSW Government,” Mr Albanese said.
Roads Minister Duncan Gay said the work meant that vehicles could now use the fourth northbound lane of the F5 from Raby Road Bridge to Denham Court off-ramp and the Raby Road northbound on-ramp to the F5.
“Right turns at the intersection of Campbelltown Road and the F5 southbound exit ramp/northbound on-ramp have also been permanently stopped and the new 878 westbound bus route is now operating,” Mr Gay said.
The work extended along the F5 between Brooks Road, Ingleburn and Narellan Road, Blair Athol including the new Raby Road on-ramp.
The final stage of widening between Raby Road and Narellan Road is scheduled to be completed by late 2011.
