It was my great honour to officiate again this year at the Pride Round for the Newtown Breakaways at our own Henson Park on Saturday.
The Breakaways are proud of their role in establishing women’s AFL in NSW. This year they introduced a men’s team making it a first for the AFL as a women’s club generating a men’s team for gender equality.
“We are so much stronger as a community for accepting people as they are, regardless of gender, race, religion or sexuality. It’s a great thing and we should not take it for granted.
Things like Pride Round are really important for that and one way that people come together is through sport.”
