Every Australian taxpayer will get a tax cut next year and the year after, on top of the tax cuts we delivered last year. That means more money in your pocket, with an average tax cut of over $2,500 each year when fully implemented.
That’s not all. This year we’ll take another $150 off power bills for every household and around one million small businesses. That’s on top of the $300 we already knocked off power bills, taking pressure off household budgets.
Helping with the cost of living is our top priority and we’ll keep working to help Australians get ahead.
Labor built Medicare so you could see the GP for free. But after a decade of Liberal cuts, a free GP is too hard to find.
We’ll fix it with the biggest ever investment in Medicare. With Labor, you’ll be able to see the GP for free.
Our plan will:
Increase support for your local GP to offer bulk billing to everyone
Introduce a new incentive for GP practices that bulk bill every patient
Train more doctors and nurses
Our massive investments in bulk billing are already helping 11 million pensioners, concession card holders and families see a GP for free. Now we’ll keep building, so all you need is your Medicare card, not your credit card.
We’ve already opened 87 free Medicare Urgent Care Clinics across Australia. Now we’ll open 50 more. They open early and close late, so you can get the care you need, when you need it – without paying a cent.
And we'll make medicine even cheaper, so the most you'll pay is just $25 a script.
This election will be a make or break moment for Medicare.
Peter Dutton cut $50 billion from hospitals, tried to introduce a tax on every visit to the GP, and was voted worst Health Minister by Australia’s doctors.
Only Labor will make sure Medicare is there for you when you need it.
Education changes lives. That’s why we’re backing students, from child care all the way through to uni and TAFE.
Labor has already wiped $3 billion in student debt and made loans fairer into the future.
But we’ll keep building. A re-elected Labor Government will wipe 20% off everyone’s student debt and reduce the amount you have to pay back each year.
We’ll cut around $5,500 from an average student’s debt, and deliver a permanent boost to take home pay with changes to repayments.
Students would be thousands of dollars worse off under Peter Dutton and the Liberals. They’ve opposed cutting student debt and want you to pay more, sooner.
Labor believes signing up for uni shouldn’t mean signing up for a lifetime of debt.
Every Australian deserves a secure place to call home, and finding somewhere affordable shouldn’t be a struggle.
That’s why Labor is making it easier to buy, better to rent, and we’re building more homes.
We’ve already helped over 150,000 first home buyers with deposits of 5 per cent or less, and with our Help to Buy plan, there’s more to come.
We've been working with the states to make renting fairer, and we’ve increased rent assistance by 45%.
But we know the long-term fix for housing is building more homes. That’s why we’re starting the biggest ever housing build.
We’ll build 1.2 million homes – including 55,000 social and affordable homes through initiatives like our Housing Australia Future Fund.
Our plan will:
Build more vital infrastructure
Cut red tape
Train more tradies with Free TAFE
Support construction apprentices with a new $10,000 payment
For a decade, the Liberals didn’t invest in housing. Not enough homes got built and housing got more expensive.
Labor will keep building, doing everything we can to get more Australians into a home of their own.
A good, secure job can change your life – and free TAFE is opening up that opportunity for so many Australians.
There have already been around 600,000 enrolments in courses from child care to cybersecurity, and from accounting to aged care.
Now we’ll keep building: making free TAFE permanent, so even more Australians can have that opportunity.
But the Liberals would cut free TAFE – ripping away opportunities and leaving students worse off.
Whether you’re just starting out or looking for a new career, TAFE will be free as long as there’s a Labor Government.
Every parent wants the best start for their child – and we’re helping deliver it with quality, affordable child care.
When we were elected, child care costs were skyrocketing. We made it cheaper, saving families thousands of dollars a year.
Now we’ll do more to keep building affordable child care, close to home.
Labor will guarantee three days of child care subsidy – fixing the Liberal Party’s unfair activity test, so accessing early education doesn’t depend on how much families work.
Right now, there just aren’t enough child care centres, and that means children missing out.
We’ll change that, building more than 160 centres where they’re needed most – not to make a profit, but to make sure you can get affordable child care in our suburbs and regions.
Labor’s plan will make a big difference for our littlest Australians.
