Regional Australia

Every Australian deserves to be connected and supported, no matter where they live. We want a regional Australia with strong, connected communities, growing world-class produce and building a future made in Australia.

Building better infrastructure.

Through our infrastructure pipeline, we’re making huge investments in priority transport projects across regional Australia.

Building better roads, rail and ports, as well as community infrastructure like sporting clubs.

Listening to local voices and partnering with communities means delivering the upgrades to roads, rail, ports and airports regional Australia needs.

After a decade of rorts and unfunded announcements from the former Government, we are restoring integrity and transparency to regional funding - making sure infrastructure is delivered, not just promised.

Connecting more Australians to the NBN.

More regional Australians have better access to the National Broadband Network under our plan.

We’re upgrading more than 1.5 million businesses and households to full-fibre NBN access, meaning better opportunities for businesses in rural communities.

Because Australians deserve access to high-speed internet whether they’re logging in from the bush or the suburbs.

Aussie Agriculture.

Our growers and producers deserve a government that backs them and supports the open trade that underpins their prosperity.

And that’s exactly what we have done.

Aussie agriculture is the best in the world and we want to keep it that way. We mounted the strongest biosecurity response in our nation's history to protect our agricultural sector from the threats from foot-and-mouth disease and lumpy skin disease.

And thanks to our patient and deliberate diplomatic work, we’ve seen tariffs come off Australian beef and wine - meaning more jobs and prosperity in the regional economies where these industries are based.

We’re working with businesses and our trading partners to meet the challenges of global food insecurity and workforce shortages, to make sure that agriculture is sustainable and profitable in a changing climate.

Disaster Readiness.

The Australians who face bushfires, floods and cyclones every year deserve to be protected by a Federal Government that plans ahead and invests to keep them safe.

When floods and fires hit, our agencies are there helping state and local governments on cleanup and recovery.

Our Disaster Ready Fund will curb the devastating impacts of natural disasters by investing in important disaster prevention projects like flood levees, sea walls, cyclone shelters, evacuation centres, fire breaks and telecommunications improvements.
