Mr ALBANESE (Grayndler—Leader of the Opposition) (16:30): Thank you, Mr Speaker. Today the Treasurer purported to make statements reflecting on my performance and the administration by me as minister of the Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program. This statement was incorrect. Indeed, the 2010 ANAO report from the Auditor-General into the Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program determined the following:
In addition to providing what was considered to be a reasonable geographical spread of approved funding, the proportion of total funding awarded on an electorate basis was consistent with the proportion of seats held in the House of Representatives.
"… three of the four largest grants were made to projects located in Liberal Party held electorates (the third largest grant— that is, the other one of the four— was made in respect to a project located in an Independent held electorate) …"
Just one final quote: "There was no evidence that the shortlisting criteria were intended to benefit electorates held by one party compared to another."
