Regional Rail Link Community Information Sessions

Residents of Wyndham Vale and Tarneit are invited to attend a series of community information sessions to gain more information about the Regional Rail Link project.

Federal Infrastructure and Transport Minister Anthony Albanese said the $4.3 billion Regional Rail Link will provide for hundreds of more extra train services every week across Victoria's regional and suburban rail network.

"As this nation building projects moves forward it is crucial that local residents are able to learn more about the project and offer their feed back," Mr Albanese said.

"That is why the Regional Rail Link team have organised a series of community information sessions to offer local residents an opportunity to provide written and verbal feedback.

"The Rudd Labor Government is contributing $3.2 billion to this nation building project which signals a major investment into improving urban public transport."

Victorian Public Transport Minister Martin Pakula said the new rail line would provide for up to 50 kilometres of new track via West Werribee and Southern Cross Station.

"This project will increase the capacity of the V/Line regional rail network and remove conflicts between regional and suburban trains," Mr Pakula said.

"Work is progressing well at platforms 15 and 16 at Southern Cross Station and there have been a number of contractors expressing interest in the procurement packages for Regional Rail Link."

Member for Tarneit Tim Pallas said Regional Rail Link would provide new stations in Wyndham Vale and Tarneit - important new assets for people living in these rapidly developing suburbs.

"We are aware that residents in these areas are keen to learn more about the project and how it will affect them, and to provide their feedback on the project," Mr Pallas said.

"The Regional Rail Link team has organised a series of community information sessions to share information and offer local residents an opportunity to provide written and verbal feedback."

Member for Lara John Eren said members of the community were welcome to drop in at any time during the advertised community information sessions.

"Residents will be able to speak with members of the Regional Rail Link team including engineers as well as find out general information about the project at these sessions," Mr Eren said.
