I welcome today’s announcement that the F3-M2 Link Road project has progressed to the next stage of detailed planning.
This development brings the project closer to construction and follows the commitment we gave in this month’s Federal Budget to make this much needed, long talked about missing link a reality sooner rather later.
The Federal Labor Government is providing $405 million to the project with a matching contribution from the NSW Government. The private sector will provide the balance of the required funding.
Federal funding for this project has been on the table since late 2007. Today’s announcement is a major step forward and follows ongoing discussions between the Federal and NSW governments as well as with Transurban.
As well as delivering smoother, quicker driving conditions, this new 7.7 kilometre dual two lane road tunnel beneath Pennant Hills Road will also greatly reduce traffic congestion through Sydney’s northern suburbs.
