TRANSCRIPT – NEW YEAR’S MESSAGE – TUESDAY, 31 DECEMBER 2019

NEW YEAR’S MESSAGE

G’day.

Anthony Albanese here with my mate Toto, wishing you a happy new year.

This is normally a time of joy.

But for many of our fellow Australians, it can be a challenging time.

I hope that the new year brings relief to everyone dealing with the harsh reality of the bushfire crisis.

I hope it gets easier for our brave firefighters who have been putting themselves in harm’s way for so many months now.

We think of those who have lost their lives and their loved ones at this extremely difficult time of grief.

We think of everyone who has lost their home.

We also think of everyone who will be working through this festive season.

Our serving men and women overseas.

Our emergency service workers.

Our hospital workers; not least our nurses, midwives and doctors.

And everyone who is just trying to make ends meet in these tough times.

If you have had it tough, I really hope your new year is brighter.

May 2020 bring you and your loved ones health, happiness, and all that you hope for.

Happy New Year.
