Truss Seeks Credit For Labor's Good Work

The Abbott Government is accelerating its campaign of re-announcing Labor infrastructure projects to conceal its lack of an infrastructure development agenda.

In the government’s latest shameful attempt to claim credit for Labor’s good work, Infrastructure Minister Warren Truss yesterday “announced’’ plans for the final phase of Darwin’s Tiger Brennan Drive duplication.
Labor announced this project in August, 2012.
Since taking office the Abbott Government has re-announced literally dozens of Labor projects in an attempt to build credibility on infrastructure delivery.
In many cases, Coalition MPs voted against the projects they now seek to claim when they were first proposed by Labor.
When Labor took office in 2007, Australia was 20th out of 25 OECD countries in terms of infrastructure development as a proportion of GDP.
Because of Labor’s record investment in infrastructure, Australia now ranks first.
