Walers To Take On Sailors At Henson Park

The third annual Sydney Community Cup will be played this Sunday as the rock n’ roll Walers take on the media industry-based Sailors at Henson Park.

I look forward to playing for the Walers, which will be skippered by Mark Evans.
The Sailors will be captained by Adam Spencer.
The Walers, twice defeated by the Sailors, are hoping to take home the trophy this Sunday.
Regardless of the outcome, the real winner on the day will be the community.
All money raised will go to Reclink, a Melbourne-based charity that works in partnership with over 450 charities from around Australia.
Reclink coordinates sporting and cultural programmes for those less fortunate; providing a valuable link between vulnerable people and their community.
While the game might not be of AFL Seniors calibre, it will be played in a good spirit and will be an entertaining family day out in the Inner West.
As someone making my Aussie Rules debut, I’m hoping the game is not too competitive.
Gates open at midday, entry is by gold coin donation and everybody is welcome.
Local businesses, such as Serendipity Ice Cream and Suzy Spoon’s Vegetarian Butcher will set up shop on the day.
The Newtown Swans Junior AFL Club are running the sausage sizzle and will also play before the main match starts at 2pm.
This is a fantastic local event and one I am pleased to support.
