Clean Energy Bills Enter Parliament

The Gillard Labor Government has introduced a package of clean energy bills to Federal Parliament today that will ensure Australia reduces its carbon pollution in the most economically efficient way.
The Clean Energy Future legislation will put a price on the carbon pollution of around 500 large polluters.
The revenue will be used to assist households, support jobs and competitiveness and invest in clean energy sources.
This is the biggest economic reform the nation has undertaken in decades.
It’s the right thing to do for our economy and our environment and the right thing to do for future generations.
For households there will be tax cuts, increases in family payments, higher pensions and other government allowances.
The Government is determined to act and that was the message local residents sent when more than 500 people attended a Climate Change forum I hosted.
The Government has shared all the available research that has informed our decision with the community.
The time has now come to deliver a low carbon economy for the future.
